Ah yes, it’s officially sweet summer time! With the gorgeous sunlight lasting longer and temperatures heating up, the great outdoors are calling your name! It’s time to get out there and do something. Summer is especially a great time for outdoor workouts, but also a time to be extra cautious.
Warmer weather calls for extra hydration. During the summer months you need more than the typical 8 glasses a day. Especially during physical, outdoor activities. You may even need a little energy boost to help you push your workouts to the next level. Try a protein/sugar powder mixed with your water. But be wary, these may add extra calories!
It’s vital, during outdoor summer activities, to protect yourself from the sun. Remember SPF is your best friend! Hats and/or sunglasses are necessary at all times while out in the sun to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays. They can also be a stylish accessory, just be sure your sunglasses are UVA/UVB protectant!
Summer workouts can be fun! For some of us, me included, it’s hard to keep up our physically fitness with trips to the lake, beach getaways, camping trips, etc. But not all exercise has to be an intense 30 minute session. Splashing around and swimming is an excellent source of calorie burn! Plus a few 10 minutes bursts here and there throughout the day can really add up.
Grab some friends, the more the merrier! While I was walking my dog the other week, I saw a huge group of kids and their moms in the park. While the kids had a great time running, jumping and swinging. The moms put on their own little workout routine. I love this idea. A great way for the whole family to stay physically fit, while having fun all together!
